Integrating Blockchain Technology with Cloud-Based Internet of Things Ecosystems for Secure and Transparent Data Transactions in Smart Cities

The increasing adoption of smart cities necessitates secure and transparent data transactions among interconnected devices. The integration of blockchain technology with cloud-based Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystems presents a promising solution for ensuring data integrity, authentication, and security in smart urban environments. Blockchain, with its decentralized and tamper-resistant nature, mitigates security risks, while cloud computing offers scalability for real-time IoT data processing. This paper explores the synergy between blockchain and cloud-based IoT to address security vulnerabilities and enhance data transparency in smart cities. A comprehensive literature review of prior studies is conducted, focusing on advancements. The study presents a framework for blockchain-enabled cloud IoT ecosystems, analyzing key security challenges, scalability issues, and implementation strategies. Additionally, graphical models and flowcharts illustrate the role of blockchain in smart city applications, energy efficiency, and secure data exchange. The findings underscore the transformative potential of blockchain in enhancing smart city resilience, privacy, and data governance.
