Fellow Membership for Computer Professionals
Article 1: Definition and Purpose
- Fellow Membership represents the highest grade of membership, awarded to distinguished professionals in the field of computing who have demonstrated significant, sustained contributions to the discipline or to the computing profession.
- The purpose of Fellow Membership is to recognize and honour individuals whose technical excellence, professional impact, and leadership have elevated the standards of the computing industry.
- Fellow Members serve as ambassadors of the organization, contributing to its mission, programs, and advocacy efforts.
Article 2: Eligibility Criteria
2.1 Fellow Membership is awarded to individuals who have:
- A minimum of [5–10] years of professional experience in computing or related fields.
- A record of impactful technical contributions, innovative work, or leadership in the computing community (e.g., groundbreaking research, software development, teaching, industry leadership).
2.2 Candidates must have significantly contributed to one or more of the following areas:
- Research and development in computer science or engineering.
- Contributions to standards, innovations, or technology solutions that have had a wide-reaching impact.
- Professional leadership in industry, academia, or government.
- Mentorship and education that has fostered the growth of future leaders in computing.
Article 3: Nomination and Selection Process
3.1 Nomination for Fellow Membership requires the support of at least one existing member in good standing in current Fellow Member.
3.2 The nomination package must include:
- A detailed professional biography.
- Letters of recommendation highlighting the nominee’s specific contributions to computing.
- A portfolio of work, including publications, patents, or significant project outcomes.
3.3 The Fellow Selection Committee, consisting of senior members and current Fellows, will review the nomination and evaluate based on criteria such as technical excellence, leadership, and the broader impact on the computing profession.
Article 4: Rights and Privileges
4.1 Fellow Members enjoy all the rights of regular members,
- The title of “Fellow Member” and recognition in organizational publications and events.
- Access to exclusive Fellow events, including networking and leadership forums.
- Opportunities to serve on committees, advisory boards, or panels that guide the direction of the organization.
4.2 Fellow Members are invited to mentor emerging professionals and contribute to thought leadership within the organization.
4.3 Fellow Members may be granted membership for a period of 2 years, contingent upon adherence to the organization’s standards and code of ethics. Members must renew their membership at the end of this period to maintain their status.
Article 5: Responsibilities
5.1 Fellow Members are expected to continue their contributions to the computing profession and actively support the goals of the organization.
5.2 Fellow Members are encouraged to:
- Promote excellence and ethical standards in computing.
- Engage in knowledge sharing through publications, lectures, or mentoring.
- Contribute to the organization's programs, including conferences, working groups, or educational initiatives.
5.3 Fellow Members must maintain a commitment to professional integrity and demonstrate continued leadership and impact in their field.
Article 6: Code of Conduct and Review
6.1 Fellow Members are subject to the organization’s Code of Conduct, which requires adherence to professional and ethical standards.
6.2 Any alleged violations of the Code of Conduct by a Fellow Member will be investigated by a special review committee.
6.3 The review committee may recommend sanctions up to and including revocation of Fellow status, subject to a two-thirds majority vote of the Board of Directors.
Article 7: Revocation of Fellow Status
8.1 Fellow Membership may be revoked if a Fellow Member engages in actions that bring disrepute to the organization or violates the Code of Conduct.
8.2 The revocation process will include a formal review by the Fellow Selection Committee, followed by a final vote from the Board of Directors.
8.3 The revocation of Fellow status requires a two-thirds majority vote from the Board of Directors.
